Epstein, a chiropractor for over 20 years who combines traditional chiropractic services with new mind/body principles, here describes how to progress successfully through 12 stages of consciousness. The healing practices he describes include suffering through ascent, concluding with spiritual knowing, and a sense of integration with oneself and the general community. Each chapter concludes with a special breathing exercise and affirmation for that stage of healing. Of course, Epstein allows for the "backsliders" and sadly reports that most people remain in stages 1 or 2 throughout their lives. (Part of the process, Epstein acknowledges, is seeking professional help along the healing path when necessary.) With the flourishing of authors like Bernie Siegel, Dean Ornish, and Deepak Chopra, this title will do well in public libraries with a demand for popular medical information.

Genius can be hard to understand...

I have completed over 100 sessions of Donald Epsteins "Network Chiropractic" or "Network Spinal Analysis" - and I can vouch for it. I believe it is unique, as it states, and not only is a process whereby you can overcome your pain, discomfort, and tension (defence physiology), but grow as a person overall. The benefits are without a ceiling to the "bodymind", and it just keeps getting better. It doen't even compare for example to the theory so highly touted and created by John Sarno (also reviewed) which is essentially learning how to control your pain. Network unwinds your spinal cord -- where all your tension resides, which is also said to be the subconscious mind.

THIS BOOK however is ABSTRACT, and if you are prone to getting stuck at all, you will. (I have asked several people who have read it, and they all have this same story.) It describes a process of 12 Stages on your healing journey, and you are in one of them now. If you can find it, great, otherwise, it really becomes confusing, and make no mistake, it is hard to read anyway. I quit after 90 pages, and I never went back -- it was that difficult. HOWEVER, it's ultimate "saving grace" is that there are exercises in it that are invaluable. If you are suffering in your life with pain or whatever, go to the first chapter and follow these diagrams and instructions. Photocopy these pages only, if you don't wish to read the book. They only take a couple of minutes. It is possible to get instant and total relief, especially once you have practiced them awhile. At first -- they can be hard to do and create more pain! Don't get discouraged.

A groundbreaking work...

The 12 Stages of Healing presents a model of healing that allows the reader to be more "OK" with their own healing process. By learning to identify yourself in one of the 12 stages, you begin to see that what is going with you is not necessarily a "problem", but rather part of a larger process. The simple act of identifying the stage you're in and then doing the easy breathing exercise designed to get that particular rhythym flowing is often enough to move you into the next stage. I have seen over and over again the natural accuracy of Dr. Epstein's model: the moving from a sense of helplessness, to the reaching out(or sometimes blaming!), to the perceiving the stuck patterns in myself and on and on. Use this book as a daily guide to life's challenges.

Dr. Epstein has help thousands of people get a new perspective of health and healing. The 12 stages model provides ideas for a new journey in understanding the healing process without the usual judgement of symptoms as bad or wrong. The book has some very easy exercises at the end of each chapter that can help integrate awareness to the body with breath and attention. A great book for those looking for a the bigger picture of health (from the inside out)

I love this book

I love this book. It has just the right blend of intrigue, slightly (and delightfully) wicked social commentary, mystery, and yes, humor, to grab and hold anyone even remotely interested in what makes the shakers and movers of the World's monetary system tick. Not to give anything away, but the come-uppance afforded characters, some resembling those we, in real life have come to loath, can be very gratifying. Thank you, Mr. McGuerty, for making "the rest of us" feel a lot better, if only in a virtual sense. . . . for now.......

About the Author
Dennis Coon is a publishing phenomenon and one of the best-selling authors in the field of psychology. His innovative instructional methods and student-focused style make his works perennial favorites among instructors and students alike. To date, more than two million students have learned psychology with a Coon text as their guide. Coon graduated with a B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Riverside, and earned his Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Arizona. He is also co-author, with John O. Mitterer, of INTRODUCTION TO PSYCHOLOGY: GATEWAYS TO MIND AND BEHAVIOR, 13th Edition and PSYCHOLOGY: A JOURNEY, 5th Edition.

John O. Mitterer holds a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from McMaster University. He has taught psychology at Brock University to more than 25,000 psychology students. Mitterer was the recipient of the 2003 Brock University Distinguished Teaching Award, a 2003 Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA) Teaching Award, a 2004 3M Teaching Fellowship, the 2005 Canadian Psychological Association Award for Distinguished Contributions to Education and Training in Psychology, and the 2010 Brock University Don Ursino Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Large Classes. I loved it so much

I rented this textbook from Amazon for a General Psych class. I loved it so much, I really thought about buying it for myself. It's written in a conversational manner with good humor, so chapter-reading isn't a drudgery. And it covers quite a lot, even going into the benefits of meditation and dream-journaling, which I was pleasantly surprised to find! For a book that spans an already broad subject matter, I was impressed.

About the Author
P. Aarne Vesilind received his undergraduate degree in civil engineering from Lehigh University and his Ph.D. in environmental engineering from the University of North Carolina. He spent a post-doctoral year with the Norwegian Institute for Water Research in Oslo and a year as a research engineer with Bird Machine Company. He joined the faculty of Duke University in 1970 where he served as chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. In 1999, he was appointed to the R. L. Rooke Chair of the Historical and Societal Context of Engineering at Bucknell University. He served in this capacity until his retirement in 2006.

Alastair S. Gunn was a professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the University of Waikato in Hamilton, New Zealand.

I love stories which teach me something. This story teaches a lot. The author obviously has an extensive knowledge of sixties era San Francisco Chinatown and Chinese American culture; and he freely shares that knowledge while weaving an intriguing mystery which had me constantly fudging just one more chapter. A combined good read and pleasant learning experience. I'll be reading more of his books.

a time capsule from San francisco in the 50s

I love it when I read a book and it smells and sings. The chinese jars took me by the hand for a visit to misty San Francisco and the republic of Chinatown. I found the glance in the multicultural world of a nation within a city just fascinating. I had the urge to visist San Francisco after reading it. If you are looking for a smokey, hat-on mystery, this is your book.

If you are looking for a "noir-style" mystery, set in San Francisco's Chinatown in the 1960s, read The Chinese Jars. William Gordon starts his story with an obituary of a character who you meet through the eyes of the hero. Finding out that this dearly departed friend was not who he portrayed himself to be leads the main character, newspaper advertising salesman Samuel Hamilton, through a series of adventures in Chinatown. Along the way, Samuel finds out that the Chinese safeguard their money, their documents and their secrets in an herb store filled with jars instead of safe deposit boxes.

William's story makes San Francisco Chinatown an important character in this thriller. For suspense with an exotic twist, check out The Chinese Jars.

The book makes a clear case for the use of media creation as a central communication tool in learning. Mr Gliksman takes the reader through various forms of media creation and provides a range of really compelling examples of student centered media projects - everything from narrated slide shows to animation and green screen videos. One additional innovative feature of the book is that it uses augmented reality to demonstrate several student media projects. Readers can point their device at the printed image of a student project discussed in the book and it overlays ad plays the actual project media as if the video was right on the page itself. Incredible!
Overall, this book is a very easy to read and crammed with creative ideas for using media creation in education. I'd highly recommend it.

A MUST for anyone who believes learning should be fun

Creating Media for Learning is an eye opener for what a learning experience in our time should be.
In easy, simple steps, and light and humorous narrative, Gliksman brings the 21st century into the classroom.
He suggests ways to adapt teaching and learning to the means of communication that children of today prefer and naturally defer to.
Teaching with media makes study fun. It is easy to imagine how receptive, curious and proactive the classrooms will become with the innovative methods Gliksman suggests.
This book is a MUST for any teacher who believes that learning should be fun and engaging (and parents could benefit from it too!)

Sucks you in!! A soild 4 star read.

Kaitlin Mahone is a 23 year old, puma shifter. A very strong female, who is also the motorbike riding, daughter of the Council Leader, with kick ass ninja skills to boot!

After seeing her on/off lover Tito, second in command of the 'bears',who are allied with her clan, the 'cats' she follows to see why this meeting is taking place with their mutual enemies the 'wolves'.

After quite literally running into a hot as hell, amber eyed wolf, moments after hearing part of an unpleasant conversation, sparks fly, but Kaitlin leaves......for now, they are enemies after all.

Meeting in a natural environment, these two 'enemies' Kaitlin and Rhys have some Fun on the dance floor, some truths are reviled, and some decisions need to be made.

The 'needing' a female mating that takes place, in order to reproduce, has Kaitlin all worked up, with only one wolf in mind.

The Animalistic sexual attraction is so beautifully written in this novella,It reads like a full length book, with such well developed characters! I was so enthralled, I quite literally jumped off the lounge when my husband told me it was bed time!!
(Just in case you're wondering, I didn't go!!)

I read this from Start to Finish, leannes writing ability just draws you in, making it impossible to leave.

With a threatening war on the hands, these star crossed lovers must fight a multitude of huge battles to prove to both clans that their love is real! That they are in fact mates.

Being from Australia. I loved that there was an Australian crocodile shifter on the council ( even if he had a bad temperament!)

The show down between Tito and Rhys was brilliant! I'd been waiting for that or some time.

All The fight scenes were well Thought out, and well rounded. I feel this is something that is glossed over in a lot of paranormal books.

I thought Li was a very well written, strong character.
How she handles the whole situation really impressed me.

I LOVED the epilogue.
*sigh* my only complaint is that it wasn't long enough!!

I am hoping for a second book for Brent and Misha!!

I don't want to give to much away, with the final fighting scene of the war, so I will finish by saying I immensely enjoyed this novel, and as such would HIGHLY recommend it.

Very beautiful, wish it was longer

I'm absolutely in love with the artwork and usage of color in this book. It's a beautiful concept with a lot more lore than they had time to get into . This could easily have been an outstanding series with plenty to offer, so my only complaint is trying to fit so much of this big idea into such a short book. I'm noticing this has been a consistent problem with graphic novels for me. The level of detail you could get from a regular novel cannot be matched through images, which themselves offer a broader sense of imagery and allow for less descriptive detail. Anyway, back to the book, for what graphic novels typically seem to accomplish in my experience, this one did a good job and it was worth it, if not for the artwork alone.
