Sweet - and sexy with some good sexual tension!

I'm a fan of capture/slave type stories - which I usually enjoy if they are harsh and non consensual. I just like the rough stuff.

Here we have a very sweet story with no harshness whatsoever. It's got two MC's who are very likable and who you can believe an HEA for - and no truly real bad guys. Stephen's pack could be considered less then ideal - but there is no true villain. Daryl and his pack seemed like pretty upstanding wolves in general. Because this is so short there is not really any time to delve into much of anything as far as backstory of the packs or how they really work with each other. Since this is book one I'm assuming that we'll get more evolution as the series continues but this needed another 40 pages or so of expounded discovery for the reader on the packs, pack law, the world itself, and some sense for how the society really works within the packs. This is really noticeable with Daryl's packs once they arrive since you know next to nothing about them other then their location. Since it's a shifter story the insta mate is fine - and the sex is hot and not overly done. I enjoyed the world, would like to know much more about it, and will definitely pick up the next one's in the series. The length here is too short - but what is here is balanced very well in terms of the two MC's themselves.

It was an okay read, and I will continue the series

Even though I thought the book was relatively good, there were a few ehh moments for me. Considering the blurb, I was kinda hoping for a bit more of a dub-con type of read, but it wasn't dub-con at all. It was way too fluffy for the blurb, very misleading. Still, once I allowed myself to understand this wouldn't be a sit-on-the-edge-of-my-seat-OMG story, I settled down for the light read it turned out to be.

I wish a little more of the sex was on page. Not because I'm a sex whore (even though I do love reading these books so I really can't say I'm not), but I hated reading their initial sex scene then jumping a few days later and being told they'd done it in every position imaginable. Give me a little less tell and some more show. Especially since it comes back up in the plot. And I got confused - can you choose to knot or not to knot? And do you have to knot in order to impregnate your partner? It just really needed to be expanded on to be a really good story, instead of just a relatively good one.

I loved the alpha at the end, well played, and I will be tuning in for the next one in this series.

Loved it!

Such a sweet and heart warming story. Poor Stephen being an omega meant a life of waiting to be sold off and taken from the only homes he's ever known. It was sad reading the hardships of his life and that of other omegas. But the story doesn't end there! A savior rescues Stephen. Daryl was slapped with a shock he never expected but sometimes the best things in life happen that way. I loved this story and plan on checking out this author's other work. Well done!

Required college book. A different style than I'm used to.

I had to have this book for a college level English class and honestly I thought it was just alright. The way it teaches is very different than any other English books I've ever had. That can be a pro and a con. At times it got me to think outside of the box while others it confused me.

About the Author
Michael Murphy is somewhere between eighteen and eighty-eight years old - the number varies from day to day depending on his mood and his energy level. He first thought about writing when he was very young, but put the idea aside in order to celebrate  his fifth birthday and then forgot about it for a year or two. Periodically he toyed with the idea of writing, but each time rejected it as pure folly. It wasn't until he was an old man of twelve that he wrote his first book. A long eighteen year dry spell followed before he wrote his next book.  Whenever he needs a laugh he looks at those early writings.  He has written science fiction, romance, mystery, and has collaborated on one non-fiction history book.  He lives with his two best friends in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States.  When not writing or taking pictures or growing orchids or baking or programming in PHP, he works as an IT guru for a major company, and he and his partner travel - so far 27 countries and 46 states.  Got a lot of world to see yet.  In his spare time he tries to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up.

Missed the mark

From the sample I thought I'd love this book but that didn't end up being the case. I found the "witty" banter over the top and actually quite annoying. Some of the conversations between the two leads were just ridiculous... One example "every day I thank God for you. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me, that could ever happen to me. You are a gift from the heavens above." -Also there was very little conflict in the book and what there was was wrapped up in a neat little package far too easily, and unrealistically. This goes straight to my " once is enough" pile.

Fun story, good read, slightly wordy.

The plot is easy and predictable, the characters sincere and real. The author successfully achieves the goal of making the characters believable, setting each scene and placing them well within those scenes; however, the writing tends to be repetitive in nature, resulting in a slightly slower read as one tries to mentally reduce the wordage to its essence. This style of making a statement, and then confirming it again, and somtimes, again, and then occasionally, again, slows down the reading as one tries to figure out what wasn't necessary to the story.

"Really, how did the man do it that fast? I couldn't even have turned on the water yet, and he was done and back at his locker-naked. Did I say that he was naked? If not, I really should have. He was naked. Gloriously naked. And he wore nudity really, really well."

Some might tend to be overtly critical of this use of repetition, over, and over; however, once adjusted to this style, most readers should be able to return to the real treat of this light hearted romp through this endless quest of seeking true love.

Overall this is an overtly entertaining, funny, filled with mirth, (did I mention funny), sometimes hilarious, occasionally good humored romp through the misadventure of "literally bumping" into love and then, figuring out how to hold on to it. (Did I mention that it's funny?)

Little substance, no character development, not much of a story. The beginning was uninteresting. It got a little better in the middle. The end was a letdown. Lots of interesting possibilities left unrealized. Very weak novel. Almost no dialogue. One learns almost nothing about the two main characters. A missed opportunity. Disappointing.

Rose Gonnella is the Executive Director of the Robert Busch School of Design at Kean University in Union County and Ocean County, New Jersey, and Wenzhou-Kean University, China (2015). Gonnella has taught graphic design for over 25 years including courses in design theory and materials and techniques. She currently serves on the executive board of the Art Directors Club of New Jersey (ADCNJ); is the Director of the Kean University/ADCNJ "Thinking Creatively" design conference; and she also directs and guides Kean Cre8tive, the RB/School of Design in-house graphic design studio. As co-author, Gonnella has contributed research and writing to seven books and has written numerous magazine and newspaper articles on creativity, art, and architecture, and design.

This book is amazing. Each page is a learning experience and the illustrations are unique and non repetitive. I recommend selling this book in college book stores worldwide. It was like reading a great novel that I couldn't put down. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Can't stop drawing anime!

At first, I bought this book for my daughter who loves to read books with anime and manga. After reading a few books, she wanted to create her own anime story. She was struggling with the drawing style for anime so I began looking for an easy to follow book for her to use as a guide. Upon buying this book, not only was my daughter able to follow the step by step instructions in the book but she was immediately able to draw anime within 30 minutes. She needed help with the first few drawings so I offered my assistance. Now both of us are hooked on drawing anime! It is a great book for any beginner trying to draw anime or manga.

How to draw anime

This is a great little book for those people like me who love to doodle or draw but don't have any real talent. The author takes you through the whole process of creating an anime character. I have tried this a couple of times now and am definitely getting better. I am hoping the author is going to do a follow up that goes a little bit deeper into bringing the anime to life with facial expressions etc. Well done - great book!

Research into the roles of trust in our society has offered a broad range of often conflicting theories. Some theorists maintain that trust is a social virtue that cannot be reduced to strategic self-interest; others claim that trusting another person is ultimately a rational calculation based on information about that person and his or her incentives and motivations. Hardin argues that we place our trust in persons whom we believe to have strong reasons to act in our best interests. He claims that we are correct when we assume that the main incentive of those whom we trust is to maintain a relationship with us—whether it be for reasons of economic benefit or for love and friendship. Hardin articulates his theory using examples from a broad array of personal and social relationships, paying particular attention to explanations of the development of trusting relationships. He also examines trustworthiness and seeks to understand why people may behave in ways that violate their own self-interest in order to honor commitments they have made to others. The book also draws important distinctions between vernacular uses of "trust" and "trustworthiness," contrasting, for example, the type of trust (or distrust) we place in individuals with the trust we place in institutions

The starting point

Yes, it is an academic study of the key concepts. And it is an almost perfect one; it gives a broad overview of other interpretations and then formulates its own, very powerful one, it makes the bold claim that we can understand trust in terms of self-interest (for most writers these two terms and naturally inconsistent, and they are wrong) It is just perfectly written, while most books on trust mumble about everything and nothing, this one is to the point and precise although not technical, everyone can read it. If you need a starting point to study the complex idea of trust, the clarity of Hardin's study makes it perfect; this one will be more useful than ten others, usually either blurry or trivial.

A Defense of Very Narrow Perspective

There has been so much research on trust in the past decades as computer-mediated communications have become integrated into our lives. The purpose of this work is primarily to reject those complementary perspectives as competing and invalid.

To Russell Hardin, trust can NOT be placed in any automatic system. Trust is NOT behavorial. In fact, trust is only legitimately studied as a mechanism within political philosophy using a particular set of methods. Not surprisingly, those methods are the ones used by Russell Hardin, political philosopher.

What we have here is the worst kind of territorial academic argument - more interested in dispute than enlightenment. This book will be good if it is at least the 20th book you plan to read on trust. Otherwise the narrowness, and the resulting required contortions in logic, will only confuse.
