Won't Lead The Reader Astray .

A well-written guide to 2,000cc Pinto engines . It is, however, best read in conjunction with David Vizard's excellent 'How to Modify Ford S.O.H.C. Engines' which it compliments rather well . There is much that Des Hammil omits from this book , just as there are some areas that David Vizard chooses to ignore. Of the two writers Vizard is the more knowledgable of the two with regard to the Pinto engine , having done extensive development work and dyno testing in conjunction with Esslinger Engineering . Certainly Vizard's recommendations on cylinder head modification are more comprehensive than those of Hammil and are backed up with extensive flow-bench data.
Of the two books only Hammil's gives any coverage to the D.O.H.C. Cosworth variant of the Pinto . Despite thirty years experience of building S.O.H.C. Pinto engines for competition use , I must confess to never having worked on a 'Cosworth' version . I can't, therefore, comment with any authority on Hammil's thoughts for the Cosworth ; my best guess, having read his ideas, is that he probably doesn't lead his readers too far astray with his suggestions. Readers looking for advice on modifying the North American 2,300cc Pinto will , unfortunately, need to look elsewhere as the larger engine is beyond the scope of both this and Vizard's book .

pinto/cosworth tuning for fast road or race applications

this is a very good book that has tricks of the trade that can be applied to any sohc or dohc motor out there. highly recommended for people that want to save money by not going the route where there is little to gain in terms of reliability or horsepower. straight and to the point.
